The burial plans for the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, have been released, with various activities scheduled to honor his legacy. Chief Iwuanyanwu, a prominent Igbo leader and statesman, will be remembered in ceremonies held across Nigeria, starting in mid-October.
The “Days of Tributes” have already commenced, with events in Lagos on 16th October 2024 and Abuja on 18th October 2024. These events attracted notable personalities, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who delivered a heartfelt tribute. Both the Lagos and Abuja services saw the participation of statesmen, lawmakers, educationists, and captains of industry, all paying their respects to the late leader.
The tribute events continue, with the next one scheduled in Enugu on 26th October 2024.
Following these tributes, a Service of Songs will take place in Chief Iwuanyanwu’s hometown, Atta Ikeduru, Owerri, on 29th October 2024.
The final rites are set for 1st November 2024, beginning with a Commendation Service at the Cathedral of Transfiguration (CATOL) in Owerri at 8:00 AM. This will be followed by the Burial Ceremony later in the day at Atta Ikeduru, where Chief Iwuanyanwu will be laid to rest.
Chief Iwuanyanwu was a revered figure in the Igbo community and across Nigeria, known for his leadership and contributions to the country’s socio-political development. These events provide an opportunity for people from across the nation to pay their last respects to this towering figure.
