US Embassy and Lagos Consulate Closed for Presidents’ Day

The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced the temporary closure of both the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos on Monday, February 17, 2025. The closures are in observance of Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday in the United States.

The U.S. Mission confirmed the closure through a statement posted on its official X page, noting that regular operations would resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Presidents’ Day, observed on the third Monday of February each year, was originally established to honor the birthday of George Washington, the first president of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732.

Both the Embassy and the Consulate General will be closed for the day, with services resuming the following day.
