St. Louis, MO – Black Men Read invites book lovers and literary enthusiasts to a special event, “Voices in Tandem,” featuring renowned human rights activist and author Yahkhahnahn Ammi, Ph.D., alongside Dr. Perrie Daniell Gibson as one of the highlighted authors to discuss his newly released memoir titled Live or Die Tryin
Dr. Ammi’s memoir is more than a personal story—it is a testament to resilience and a critique of the systemic barriers that lead young Black men into the school-to-prison pipeline. He writes, “They built cages for boys like me before we ever learned to dream.” His book explores his journey from incarceration to earning a Ph.D., revealing how education became his lifeline. As he declares, “Freedom wasn’t just the absence of bars; it was reclaiming my voice and purpose.” His words serve as a rallying cry for those seeking justice and self-determination.
This inspiring Book Signing & Meet the Author event will take place on March 15, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, at the Schlafly Branch of the St. Louis Public Library, located at 225 North Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63108.
