Passion for Excellence (Pafex), a youth development initiative, has applauded the giant strides of the present administration in Abia State, led by Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. The organization described Otti’s achievements in education, health, and infrastructure development as second to none since the inception of democracy in the state.
While acknowledging these efforts, Pafex has called for a broader and more encompassing approach toward human capital development, which it considers the foundation of a thriving society.
Pafex’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment
Pafex, a non-governmental organization, is dedicated to helping young people discover and harness their talents through behavioral and intellectual development programs. The organization has impacted numerous indigent youths across African cities through its free masterclass workshops.
As part of its contribution to development in Aba, Pafex has decided to champion a human capital development initiative to complement the governor’s efforts. The first step in this initiative involves a tour of major public primary schools that were once prestigious institutions but have now fallen into a comatose state due to long-term negligence by past administrations.
The Condition of Aba’s Public Schools
For years, these once-thriving schools produced some of the finest minds in various fields. However, due to years of neglect, they have become dilapidated and underfunded, with little sign of their former excellence. Pafex has identified the need for urgent intervention to restore these institutions to their former glory.

During the visit, led by Pafex’s Head of Administration and Human Development, Architect Jennifer Stephen Uche, the initiative brought hope and smiles to students and school administrators. Many see this as a light at the end of the tunnel after enduring years of infrastructural decay.
Mobilizing Support for Educational Revival
Pafex has expressed its intention to use its platform to advocate for support from alumni of these schools, urging them to contribute to the restoration of their alma mater. Additionally, the organization is encouraging corporate organizations and other well-meaning individuals to play their part through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, recognizing that the government alone cannot solve these challenges.
The public primary schools visited during the tour include:
– Aba-Owerri Road Primary School
– Army Barracks Primary School
– Asa Triangle Primary School
– Eziobu Primary School
– Gulf Course Primary School
– Okigwe Road Primary School
– Osusu Road Primary School
– Osu Okpuaja Primary School
– Constitution Crescent (Santa Maria) Primary School
A Call for Collective Effort
Pafex, in collaboration with All Africa Plug, a Pan-African media network, has resolved to stand by Governor Otti’s vision to restore Aba’s lost glory. The organization is also calling on kind-hearted individuals and groups, irrespective of political affiliations, to support this noble cause and contribute to the betterment of Aba’s educational system.
“Aba is home to all, and its people are making significant strides globally. It is time for everyone to play a role in its transformation,” said Pafex Lead Strategist, Amaobi Madu.
As efforts to rebuild the state’s education system continue, Pafex remains committed to ensuring that Aba regains its reputation as a center for academic excellence and human capital development.
