The African Action Congress (AAC) has chosen Miss Chioma Ifemeludike as its candidate for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 2025.
The election took place during the party’s primary where Ifemeludike emerged unopposed, receiving unanimous support through an affirmation vote by party members. Her nomination makes her one of the few female candidates in the race and sets the stage for a heated contest against the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and other candidates.
The National Chairman of AAC, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, was represented at the primary by the party’s National Treasurer, Dr. Sam Ajeigbe. Chairman of the election committee, Mr. Oshiokhe Ikpeminoghena, affirmed that Ifemeludike fulfilled all constitutional requirements to contest the poll.
In her acceptance speech, Ifemeludike expressed gratitude to the party and its members for the confidence placed in her. She pledged not to let them down and promised a people-focused leadership.
“Our mission is to ensure Anambra works for all, especially women, children, and youths. We are here to empower the people and give them the tools to thrive,” she said.
Miss Ifemeludike is from Eziowele, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Her candidacy has been hailed by party loyalists as a bold step toward inclusive governance.
