Tinubu hosts Queen of Denmark in Abuja, strengthening bilateral ties.

In a diplomatic gesture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed Queen Mary Elizabeth of Denmark to the State House in Abuja yesterday. The royal visit marked a new chapter in Nigeria’s bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Denmark.

President Tinubu, alongside First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, greeted the Danish monarch at his official residence. The reception reflected a warm and friendly atmosphere, showcasing Nigeria’s commitment to fostering international partnerships.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, was described by officials as “a vital engagement.” Though details of the discussions were not disclosed, the talks were expected to focus on areas of mutual interest, including trade, sustainable development, and cultural exchange.

Speaking after the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, noted, “This visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to deepening ties with Denmark, particularly in areas that advance our shared goals of prosperity and innovation.”

Dignitaries at the event included the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu; and the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Ole Bach Hansen.

The Danish delegation expressed optimism about strengthening the relationship between the two nations. Jens Ole Bach Hansen commented, “This visit is a testament to the enduring friendship between Denmark and Nigeria, built on mutual respect and shared aspirations.

Observers have hailed the Queen’s visit as a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage. Political analyst Dr. Adebayo Johnson remarked, “This high-profile meeting signifies Nigeria’s strategic positioning in international diplomacy under President Tinubu’s administration.”

The event follows President Tinubu’s recent engagements with other world leaders and emphasizes his administration’s focus on leveraging international relations for national development.

While the specific outcomes of the discussions remain private, both parties expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. A joint statement from the Presidency and the Danish Embassy is expected in the coming days.
