Russia Rejects U.S. Proposal to Take Over Gaza Strip and Resettle Palestinians

In a significant development, Russia has firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip and resettle its Palestinian residents in neighboring countries.he Kremlin emphasized its support for a two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

President Trump’s plan, announced on February 4, 2025, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggested that the United States should assume control of the Gaza Strip.he proposal included relocating over 2 million Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan, aiming to transform Gaza into a prosperous region dubbed the “Riviera of the Middle East”.

The proposal has faced widespread international condemnation. Arab nations, including Egypt and Jordan, have rejected the idea, citing concerns over regional stability and the rights of Palestinian people. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the plan as a violation of international law and called for the United Nations to protect Palestinian rights.

Russia’s response aligns with its longstanding stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Kremlin reiterated its support for a two-state solution, emphasizing the need for negotiations between Israel and Palestine to achieve lasting peace. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated that the resolution of the conflict should be based on the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the consensus of the majority of countries involved.

The rejection of President Trump’s proposal by Russia and other international actors underscores the complexities of the Middle East peace process. The emphasis remains on a negotiated settlement that respects the rights and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians. The international community continues to advocate for dialogue and cooperation to achieve a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict.
