Former High Commissioner to Ghana emerge Rivers Sole Administrator

In a decisive move to address the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the State Assembly for six months. Profile of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas

Born on September 27, 1960, in Nko, Cross River State, Vice Admiral Ibas has had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Navy. He enlisted in the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1979 and was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in 1983. Throughout his service, he held various significant positions, culminating in his appointment as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff from July 2015 until his retirement in January 2021.

Vice Admiral Ibas’s educational background includes training at the Nigerian Defence Academy and other notable institutions both domestically and internationally. His extensive military education and experience have equipped him with the skills necessary for leadership in complex situations.

Following his retirement from active military service, he was appointed as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana, where he served with distinction.
