June 3, 2025 | Washington, D.C. — Former US President Donald Trump emphatically stated that the United States will not permit Iran to enrich uranium under any potential nuclear agreement.
Speaking on his Truth Social platform, Trump criticized ongoing diplomatic efforts, saying, “The AUTOPEN should have stopped Iran a long time ago from ‘enriching.’ Under our potential Agreement — WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM!”
His comments came in response to reports that a US proposal, presented to Iran on May 31, would allow limited, low-level uranium enrichment within Iran for a certain period. The plan reportedly includes halting Iran’s advanced centrifuge research, restricting enrichment to civilian use, banning new enrichment sites, and dismantling critical uranium processing infrastructure.
The fifth round of nuclear talks between the US and Iran took place on May 23 in Rome, facilitated by Omani mediators. Trump, who withdrew the US from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal during his presidency, has reiterated his stance against Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.
The international community continues to watch closely as negotiations unfold, balancing nuclear non-proliferation concerns with regional security interests.
