In a move set to revolutionize education in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Education has granted approval to GetBundi Education Technology to operate as a tertiary institution. The institution, henceforth known as GetBundi College of Technology, will issue National Innovation Diploma certificates to successful students upon completion of their exams. The focus of the institution is not just on certificates but on equipping students with practical skill sets that are highly sought after in today’s job market.
With a mission to impact lives positively, GetBundi College of Technology aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the technology sector. Through its innovative approach, the institution plans to select six individuals from each town and provide them with intensive coding education. Upon completion of the program, these individuals are expected to earn a minimum of $1500 per month through remote work opportunities, thus transforming their lives and contributing to the growth of the digital economy.
The Founder and CEO of GetBundi, Osita Oparaugo, expressed his excitement about the approval and emphasized the importance of empowering African youth, especially women, with the right digital skills. He highlighted the partnership between GetBundi and Womenovate LLC, which aims to further enhance the accessibility of digital education for African youths and women. Oparaugo stressed the significance of reskilling and upskilling the African workforce to ensure global competitiveness in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Motunrayo Opayinka, the Founder of Womenovate, echoed Oparaugo’s sentiments, describing the partnership as transformative and empowering. She emphasized the joint commitment of both organizations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Africa through education and skills development initiatives.
The collaboration between GetBundi and Womenovate signifies a strategic alliance aimed at addressing the digital skills gap in Africa. With a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, as well as digital skills courses, GetBundi Education Technology is poised to support the upskilling of 10 million African youths over the next decade. Womenovate, on the other hand, is dedicated to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity across STEM sectors, thereby creating opportunities for women to thrive in the digital economy.
Digital skills have emerged as a crucial component of economic competitiveness and employability in the 21st century. With the rapid advancement of technology, individuals with relevant digital skills are better equipped to navigate the job market and contribute to economic growth and innovation. However, Africa continues to face a significant digital skills gap, with only a small percentage of its population currently employed in highly skilled digital jobs.
GetBundi’s commitment to upskilling 10 million Africans with digital skills aligns with the continent’s aspirations for socio-economic development and technological advancement. By providing accessible and impactful digital education, GetBundi aims to empower African youths to seize opportunities in the digital economy and shape the continent’s future.
In conclusion, the approval of GetBundi College of Technology by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education marks a significant milestone in the journey towards transforming education and empowering African youth. Through partnerships, innovative approaches, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, GetBundi is poised to play a pivotal role in building a new Africa driven by technology and innovation.
