NigerianEye@15:Nigeria High Comm Calls for Regional Coaction to Drive Economic Growth

On June 13, 2024, at the British Council Auditorium in Accra, the Nigeria Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb. Dayo Adeoye ,ably represented by Madam Cecilia Eteng  called for regional coaction to drive economic growth in his goodwill message which was delivered by Madam Cecilia Eteng, at the 15th-anniversary lecture and discourse of the Nigerian Eye Newspaper on the  theme   “The Trade Conundrum: Expanding Understanding of the ECOWAS Module as Catalyst to Prosperity in Sub-Saharan Africa.”

Adeoye commended the Nigerian Eye Newspaper for its resilience and commitment to upholding the highest standards of journalism. He encouraged the media to continue promoting justice and probity in public life, especially in the face of global economic challenges.

The Acting High Commissioner emphasized the importance of regional organizations like ECOWAS in facilitating economic growth among member states. He highlighted the need to address challenges such as infrastructure, regulatory environments, and intra-regional trade to unlock the region’s potential for prosperity.

Adeoye suggested strategies for achieving this, including strengthening intra-regional trade, improving infrastructure, harmonizing regulations, leveraging technology, building human capital, and regional cooperation and integration.

He also addressed the issues faced by Nigerian traders in Ghana, assuring that diplomatic efforts are being made to review discriminatory laws and harmonize them with ECOWAS protocols and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) ideals.

The Acting High Commissioner congratulated the Nigerian Eye Newspaper on its 15th anniversary and pledged the High Commission’s continued support for objective reporting that protects the human society.
