Regardless of the occasional online tantrums between citizens of Nigeria and Ghana over sensational matters like whose jollof rice tastes better or serious social issues like the locking of the shops of Nigerian traders in Ghana which has persisted in the last 10 years ,the bilateral relationship between the two nations has always remain strong.
We all can remember that the first country the present Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo visited is Nigeria, he travelled to Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria on the 18th of December 2016 then as a president elect; this was barely 2 weeks after winning the national election.
Nigerian’s in Ghana have always been good ambassadors of the nation and have always seized any opportunity to make a difference and extend their heartwarming friendly gesture of ‘giving’ to their host nation.
Today a Nigerian was specially recognised for his empathy and humanitarian gesture to prisoners in Kumasi the capital city of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Mr. Patrick Chukwuka Okonkwo was given a plaque of honour signed by Rev Canon Paa Kwesi Ansah Chief Superintendent of Prisons Regional Chaplain, Ashanti dated the 21st day of May 2020.
