Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has been appointed as the Executive Assistant on Entertainment to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Breaking the news on his Instagram account, Harrysong expressed his gratitude to the governor, promising to bring his unique flair to the role. The official letter states that Harrysong officially assumed the position on December 22, 2023, and he wasted no time in announcing upcoming events, notably the ‘Kingmaker’ scheduled for March 30th and the Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024.
In his appreciation message to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Harrysong conveyed his commitment to making the most of the opportunity bestowed upon him. He assured both the governor and the people of Delta State that he would utilize his office effectively.
In his Instagram post, Harrysong shared, “Newly appointed E.A (Executive Assistant) Entertainment to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O Oborevwori. Thank you, my Governor. Now, address me as Hon. Superstar Harrysong. Thank you so much, my Governor, for entrusting me with this office to work. Deltans, get ready for ‘Kingmaker’ on March 30th. Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024.”
This move follows a trend where musicians step into political roles, joining the likes of Iyanya, Richard More Damijo, Onyeka Onwenu, Mercy Johnson, and Dayo Adeneye who have transitioned from showbiz to government service.
Harrysong, recognized for his musical prowess, rose to fame with a tribute song to Nelson Mandela, winning the “Most Downloaded Callertune Award” at The Headies 2013.
