Former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd), emphasized the critical role of peaceful coexistence in attracting investment to Taraba State during the inauguration of the multi-million Naira Daisy Danjuma Eye Centre in Takum Local Government Area.
General Danjuma highlighted the deteriorating condition of federal roads in the state and called for significant improvements in infrastructure, particularly in the area of road networks. He stressed the need for peace in Takum and across Taraba to facilitate development for the benefit of the people.
“We need peace in Takum and Taraba generally to attract development for the good of the people. We used to have good roads in the past, but nowadays, our roads are so deplorable that we now require four-wheel drives to navigate the state,” he remarked.
Governor Agbu Kefas commended General Danjuma for his philanthropic gestures and numerous developmental initiatives across Taraba and Nigeria. He expressed gratitude for the inauguration of the Sen. Daisy Danjuma Eye Hospital in Takum, describing it as a significant milestone in the state’s progress.
The state-of-the-art facility, according to Governor Kefas, will offer comprehensive eye care services to the Takum community and the entire state at subsidized rates. Patients will only incur charges for consumables, while the TY Danjuma Foundation will cover the cost of services as part of its commitment to societal development.
Dr. Ugo Okoli, a Trustee of the Foundation, highlighted the hospital’s commitment to providing cutting-edge eye care services to the people, among other essential services.
The inauguration of the Daisy Danjuma Eye Centre underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing healthcare challenges and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.
