Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted scores of travelers along the Maiduguri-Kano highway. The insurgents blocked the highway on Monday evening between Garin Kuturu and Mannanari village near Auno and forcefully abducted some passengers.
According to eyewitnesses, some commercial drivers took refuge in nearby communities during the attack. The number of people abducted is currently unknown, but some passengers were able to escape and return to Maiduguri before military reinforcement arrived.
The incident has left many stranded along the highway, waiting for the military to clear the road. This latest attack comes as a concern for the safety of travelers in the region.
