Power Outages Hit Ghana Due to Reduced Gas Supply from Nigeria

The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced that a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria has caused power outages in some areas across the country. The reduction in gas supply is due to maintenance works being undertaken by a gas supplier in Nigeria and is expected to last for three weeks.

According to a statement released by GRIDCo and ECG, the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) explained that the maintenance works have resulted in a reduction in overall power generation capacity in Ghana. This may lead to load management over the period of the works.

However, GRIDCo and ECG have assured the public that they are working together with other stakeholders in the power value chain to optimize available resources and minimize the impact of the reduction in gas supply on consumers.

The companies have apologized for the inconvenience caused and are working to ensure a stable power supply during this period. The public is urged to bear with them as they work to resolve the issue.

The power outages have affected several areas across the country, and GRIDCo and ECG are working tirelessly to ensure that power is restored as soon as possible. The companies will provide updates on the situation as necessary.

In the meantime, consumers are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of their appliances during this period.
