Sokoto Villagers Killed and Abducted on Sacred Eid al-Adha Day

Tragedy struck in Sokoto State, Nigeria on Sunday, June 16, 2024, as gunmen attacked the village of Dudun Doki in the Gwadabawa local government area. The attack occurred at approximately 1:30 am, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 people and the abduction of numerous others.

The attack coincided with the Eid al-Adha festival, a significant holiday observed by Muslim faithful in the country. The assailants targeted innocent villagers, catching them off guard and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

As of the time of this report, the state police have yet to issue an official statement on the attack. The motive behind the attack and the identity of the gunmen remain unknown.
