Wike’s Allies Reject Fubara’s Claim on Explosion

A group known as the Rivers Leaders Forum (RLF) has refuted allegations made by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, that supporters of former Governor Nyesom Wike were responsible for an explosion near Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt last Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of the group, former lawmaker Olaka Nwogu described the allegations as “misinformation” and “deliberate efforts to undermine the state’s peace and security.” The group explained that a peaceful march was held in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area to show solidarity with former Governor Wike and expressed gratitude to the police for maintaining peace despite provocative actions by the governor.

The group insisted that the peaceful march did not involve a failed attempt to blow up Hotel Presidential, as alleged by the governor. They accused Fubara of perpetuating a pattern of misinformation and urged the public to disregard his claims.

Dr. Nwogu highlighted the inconsistencies in Governor Fubara’s claims, stating that the peaceful walk had a distinct route that did not come close to Hotel Presidential. He emphasized that the route started from Rumueme Civic Centre along Ikwerre Road and ended at People’s Club premises along Rumuola-Rumuadolu Road, contrary to the governor’s allegations.

The group’s statement is a clear rejection of Governor Fubara’s claims, and they have urged the public to disregard his allegations. This development comes as the latest in the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
