Elon Musk, the billionaire and outspoken critic of US President Joe Biden, has reportedly donated a significant amount to a political organization supporting Donald Trump’s campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, according to Bloomberg. The news agency, citing anonymous sources, did not specify the exact amount donated but indicated it was a considerable contribution to the America Political Action Committee (America PAC).
America PAC, which is allowed to accept unlimited political donations, must disclose its donor list by July 15. In March, Trump, who is expected to be formally nominated next week for the November 5 election, met with Musk and other wealthy donors.
Previously, Musk had denied any intentions to support political candidates financially. On the social network X, Musk stated, “I want to be very clear, I will not donate money to any candidate for the American presidency.” He also refuted media reports in May that claimed he had discussed a potential advisory role with Trump in the event of a presidential victory.
This development marks a significant shift in Musk’s public stance on political donations and involvement.
