Talking to the media after the opening ceremony of his 5 day training on Generational Wealth Creation via silk plastering skills.
In a chat with the media, Hon. Clement Jimbo responded to growing criticisms and calls for protests over rising costs and economic hardships.
He urged Nigerians to approach the situation with a spirit of patriotism and focus on contributing positively to national development.
Jimbo emphasized that the current wave of protests should be directed at critical issues impacting the nation’s economy rather than general discontent. He highlighted pressing concerns such as crude oil theft and opposition to major investments like the Dangote refinery. “This is supposed to take the young persons out of the streets to be gainfully engaged. So are you doing this because it’s time for the protest or as part of what you had told the people you were going to do to them when you were at the National Assembly? No, it can’t be part of the… the project can’t be the reason why this is done,” Jimbo stated.
He pointed out that the coming protests should focus on specific, high-impact issues rather than broader economic grievances. “What we are witnessing today is the appropriation of the 2024 budget and it started since last year. So it only manifested today when the contractor finally got the go-ahead to come and implement. And as the facilitator of the project, I equally needed to be here to equally talk to my people and let them know the importance of the training they are about to acquire,” Jimbo said.
Jimbo stressed that it is crucial for protests to address significant problems such as oil theft, which directly affects the country’s revenue and economic stability. He also mentioned the importance of supporting major investments like the Dangote refinery, which can drive economic growth and create job opportunities.
“We need to ensure that protests are focused and productive. Address issues like crude oil theft and oppose any actions that undermine major investments that can benefit our economy,” Jimbo urged. He expressed his belief that constructive protests, centered on these crucial issues, would be more beneficial for the nation’s progress.
In his closing remarks, Jimbo promised that the current training program, which runs from July 28 to August 1, 2024, at Independence Hall in Abak LGA, is just the beginning of his broader strategy to support his constituency. He encouraged citizens to stay engaged and informed about upcoming initiatives. “Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming projects. Follow my social media for regular updates on the progress and new initiatives within our federal constituency,” he added.
Hon. Clement Jimbo’s call for focused and constructive protests highlights his commitment to addressing critical issues and fostering a spirit of collaboration and positive action in the face of economic challenges.
