The newly established Oke-Ogun Tennis Club is set to hold its inaugural tournament, the OKEOGUN OPEN, this October. According to a press release from Bola Olalere, Project Coordinator of the Oke-Ogun Green Revolution, the tournament will take place across three locations: Iseyin, Saki, and Okeho, between October 1st and 26th, 2024.
The Oke-Ogun Tennis Club is an initiative of the Oke-Ogun Green Revolution, aimed at creating a platform for social networking among members while promoting the game of lawn tennis and engaging in agribusiness. The club was formed to cater to the needs of the increasing number of young people relocating to the region for agribusiness, as well as agripreneurs moving into the area.
“With many of our youths returning home for agribusiness and numerous agripreneurs arriving in the region, we want to ensure they don’t miss out on the amenities of city life. This is why we are developing green estates with modern facilities like tennis courts throughout the region,” said Olalere.
The Oke-Ogun Tennis Club’s formation includes the construction of a state-of-the-art tennis court at the Commonwealth Green Estate, Elewure, Okeho, where the tournament finals will be held. The club promises a safe and enjoyable experience for all players.
Olalere added that the club aims to create networks that make farming more accessible, attractive, and profitable for its members. Membership is open to all who share the green revolution ideology, not just indigenes of Oke-Ogun.
The club plans to establish tennis courts and clubhouses in all their green estates, including those in Iseyin, Saki, Igboho, Kisi, Sepeteri, Igbeti, Ilero, Iganna, Ago Are, Ipapo, and Ado Awaye.
