Nigerian rising star, BoyPee, has revealed the exciting story of how Davido, the famous Nigerian singer, featured in the remix of his song “Ogechi.” The remix was recorded just a night before Davido’s traditional wedding.
“Ogechi,” originally released in May by BoyPee, alongside Hyce and Brown Joel, gained significant attention, leading to the collaboration with Davido. The remix dropped on June 26, one day after Davido tied the knot.
In an interview with HipTV, BoyPee shared that the opportunity came unexpectedly when Cubana Chief Priest, a well-known socialite and close friend of Davido, called him. BoyPee recalled how he was on his way somewhere when Cubana Chief Priest video-called him, saying Davido wanted to speak with him.
“David [Davido] invited us to Cubana’s house that same night. We rushed over, and soon after, we headed to the studio to record the remix. Davido was in the middle of wedding preparations, yet he made time to work with us. We mixed the song before dawn and released it the very next day,” BoyPee said, describing the experience as “crazy” and “God-designed.”
The collaboration highlights the camaraderie in the Nigerian music industry, where even major artists like Davido support and uplift emerging talents.
