Following the murder of Sam Onobraekpeya, Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has directed the arrest of Hon. Ejiro Eruteyan Eredajaye, the interim chairman of Adagbrasa Ugolo community in Okpe Local Government Area. Eredajaye, who is currently at large, is wanted in connection with the crime.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, CP Abaniwonda has emphasized that the suspect must be apprehended and brought to justice.
The incident began when Onobraekpeya, a leader of the community’s sand beach operations, had a disagreement with Eredajaye over a truck-load of sand. This argument escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in Onobraekpeya sustaining injuries. Eredajaye was allowed to seek medical treatment at a hospital after reporting the matter to the police.
However, shortly afterward, Onobraekpeya’s younger brother, Prince, arrived at the police station to report that Eredajaye, along with armed thugs, had attacked and killed his brother. The Divisional Police Officer’s preliminary investigation revealed that Eredajaye had only received brief treatment at the hospital.
CP Abaniwonda has now ordered the arrest of Eredajaye and any others involved in this violent act.
