Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, was at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Abuja today, following an invitation from the commission. According to a statement released by Ohiare Michael, the Director of Media for the Yahaya Bello Media Office, the former governor was not interrogated during his visit.
In the statement, Michael explained that the EFCC allowed Bello to leave without any questioning. “The EFCC did not, however, interrogate him as officials told him he could leave. We don’t know what this means yet,” the statement said.
Bello, who was accompanied to the EFCC by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, reportedly attended voluntarily to clear his name. He has consistently expressed his respect for the rule of law and ensured that he has been represented by his legal team in ongoing court proceedings.
The statement reiterated that Bello remains committed to cooperating with the authorities and had nothing to hide.
As the situation develops, the media office expressed uncertainty about the implications of the EFCC’s actions today.
Yahaya Bello’s visit comes amidst ongoing legal issues, though the specifics of his case remain before a competent court.
