Kremlin Denies Reports of Trump-Putin Phone Call, Calls It “Pure Fiction”

The Kremlin has strongly denied reports that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump recently had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This denial comes after a report by *The Washington Post* claimed that Trump had warned Putin against escalating the conflict in Ukraine during a supposed call over the weekend.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed these claims on Monday, stating, “This is completely untrue. This is pure fiction, just false information.” He emphasized that no such conversation took place and criticized the quality of information being published by some reputable media outlets.

According to Peskov, there are currently no concrete plans for President Putin to speak with Trump. While the Russian leader congratulated Trump on his election victory last Thursday, he has not engaged in any further dialogue with the U.S. President-elect since then.

In his earlier congratulatory message, Putin praised Trump for showing courage after a gunman attempted to attack him. Putin also expressed Russia’s readiness to engage in dialogue with the new American administration.

However, *The Washington Post* reported that Trump, while at his resort in Florida, allegedly called Putin to discuss the ongoing Ukraine conflict. According to the report, Trump reminded the Russian leader of Washington’s significant military presence in Europe, urging caution in any potential escalation.

The report has sparked renewed interest in how Trump, known for his previous warm remarks toward Putin, will handle U.S.-Russia relations, particularly regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine. The U.S. has been a strong supporter of Ukraine, providing substantial military aid to counter Russia’s aggression.

As of now, Trump’s camp has not responded to the Kremlin’s denial, and attempts to reach representatives for further comment have been unsuccessful.

The developments highlight the challenges ahead as Trump prepares to take office, with the world watching how his administration will navigate the delicate dynamics with Moscow amid the Ukraine conflict.
