The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a major consignment of smuggled drugs, comprising 50,000 pills of Tramadol 225mg. The illicit shipment, which originated from Ghana, was seized during an anti-drug operation.
Officials reported that the pills, known for their misuse as a potent painkiller and recreational drug, were being smuggled into Nigeria through illegal routes. The NDLEA described the operation as part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and reduce the availability of dangerous substances in the country.
Tramadol, a prescription medication, is often abused due to its opioid-like effects, leading to severe addiction and health risks. Authorities emphasized the need for cross-border collaboration to tackle the trafficking of such drugs in West Africa.
The NDLEA has urged the public to report suspicious activities related to drug smuggling as part of a collective effort to safeguard communities.
