The ever unique and outstanding honourable member representing Onuimo State Constituency, at the Imo State House Of Assembly, Hon Chief (Dr) Uba James Esile, had renewed his annual social contract with the good people of Onuimo LGA, as he cleared both JAMB and WAEC registration fees for over one hundred students, drawn from the ten electoral wards of Onuimo LGA.
The event which took place on Friday, 21st February, 2025, at Okwe Central school field in Onuimo LGA, had the people-oriented lawmaker taking a bigger step further into his already set pace, in terms of human capital development and wellbeing of the masses.Being the fifth edition of this annual educational support of his , Hon Chief Uba Esile, told the people of Onuimo that he shall not be distracted from his mission of giving them the representation they so deserved, within his capacity.The lawmaker underscored the importance of education in building a prosperous and crime-free society.
Hon Esile, fondly known as “Fresh Air” by his admirers, further admonished the beneficiaries to write the WAEC and JAMB as their future depends on it. Urging them to shun all manner of social vices that are capable of denting their future prospects. He assured all the students of assistance in gaining admission into higher institution, next year. Just as those who benefitted last year had been offered admission this year, through his good office.
The Executive Chairman of Onuimo LGA, Hon Chief Dr Emeka Obi, whom alongside members of the executive council and legislative arm of the Local government, received Hon Chief James to his office at the council secretariat, shortly before the commencement of the event, eulogized Hon James Esile for upholding the principle of accountability, people-oriented pattern and selflessness in serving Onuimolites.The chairman commended him for always entrenching a great sense of belonging to the grassroots.
The chairman of the educational support committee, Sir Vincent Okpara, made it clear that were no form of favoritism in the choice of the beneficiaries. He clarified that the indigent students were nominated by their various community traditional rulers and school heads through the supervision of the lawmaker’s wards liaison officers and subjected to an assessment test. The cash envelopes were handed over to the 104 beneficiary-students. As they, alongside their parents and guardians, went home with their faces beaming with great smiles.
The colourful ceremony was graced by the Executive chairman of Onuimo LGA, Hon Chief Dr Emeka Obi, the vice chairman, Mazi Eugene Ibegbu, the leader of Onuimo Legislative Council, Hon Andy Maduako, deputy leader of the council, Hon Nnedimma Agusi & other wards councilors, Secretary of the Local Government Chief Paul Okonkwo, Supervisors of the LGA, Former Solad of Onuimo and Special Adviser to governor Hope Uzodimma on Rurual mobilization High Chief Charles Ijezie, the two former Coordinators of Onuimo South Development Center, Lolo Nkiru Olivia Ijeomah and Hon Alisigwe C.J, the Education Secretary of Onuimo, Prince Kennedy Okonkwo, Director of schools Okigwe zone, Dr Umezuruike, DG of Hon Esile 2023 campaign Council, Hon Chidi Alaneme, traditional rulers; HRH Eze Isaac Ibeke ( Cheke II of Umucheke Okwe) , HRH Eze Luke Alaneme ( Óchiagha II of Okwe ancient kingdom) , HRH Eze B.C Obi( Eze onye oruru 1 of Owerre Okwe) and many other important personalities who took turns to speak, rating Hon Chief James Uba Esile high.
