Lokoja, February 26, 2025– The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 25 tons of illicit drugs in Kogi State.
Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), the NDLEA Chairman, made this known in Lokoja on Wednesday during a public destruction exercise. He was represented by Ahmed Suleiman Ningi, the Director of Operations and General Investigation at the NDLEA headquarters.
Speaking at the event, Ningi emphasized that the confiscated 25,000 kilograms of illicit substances posed a serious threat to security in both Kogi State and the country at large. He warned that allowing such drugs to circulate would worsen crime and instability.
The NDLEA has been intensifying its efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking across Nigeria. The agency has conducted several operations targeting drug dealers and suppliers, ensuring that seized substances do not return to the streets.
Authorities have urged citizens to support the fight against drug abuse by reporting suspicious activities and spreading awareness of the dangers of illicit substances.
