Love in Every Word is a Nigerian movie about Chioma, played by BamBam, a young woman finding her way through love, work, and personal challenges. The film has been praised for its simple but powerful story and strong acting. However, beyond the hype, the movie has several flaws that make it hard to take seriously.
The movie starts with a scene that grabs attention, making viewers curious about what will happen next. As the story unfolds, Chioma’s life becomes clearer, and we see her struggles and triumphs. Yet, the storytelling is inconsistent, leaving some frustrating gaps in logic.
Chioma works in a tough job and has a boyfriend, Davis. Their relationship, like many in real life, is not always easy. She faces problems at work and in love, making her question what she really wants. However, instead of standing up to her toxic boss with confidence, she talks about using her boyfriend’s influence to escape. What if she never met Odogwu? Would she have stayed miserable?
Speaking of Odogwu, his romance with Chioma is confusing. While their chemistry is strong, the writing does not always make sense. For example, at first, she seems fine with his accent. But later, after he showers her with love and gifts, she suddenly decides it’s a problem. How does that even make sense? When you meet someone, things like their accent would already influence whether you like them or not. Why act surprised later?
Chioma’s best friend, Ifeoma, adds some warmth to the story, but even strong supporting characters can’t fix the careless details. A prime example is the way canned drinks are covered with tissue paper. Why not get a designer to create a fake brand logo instead of making it look cheap? This lack of attention to detail is a classic Nollywood problem.
BamBam’s acting brings Chioma to life. She shows many emotions—happiness, sadness, and confusion—making her journey feel natural. The film is also visually beautiful, with Lagos shining in the background. But then, there’s the issue of them casually throwing around dollars in conversations. Why?
In the end, Love in Every Word is not just a love story. It is a feel-good movie with entertaining moments, but it is not worth the hype. With its questionable plot choices and poor attention to detail, it leaves more questions than lessons. A decent watch, but a frustrating one.
