OYC Hail Gov. Bala, Peter Obi’s Meeting as a Step Towards a New Nigeria

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described the recent meeting between Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former presidential candidate Peter Obi as a crucial step towards building a better Nigeria.

The two political figures met in Bauchi, where Governor Mohammed expressed his willingness to collaborate with Obi to promote good governance and a strong opposition.

“I’m ready to work with Peter Obi. We will make sure we come together, close ranks, bring good governance to the country, and provide a vibrant opposition with knowledge, timelines, and visions in such a manner that we will rescue and recover our country,” Mohammed said.

He further emphasized that their alliance transcends political parties, regions, and religions, adding that other governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support this move.

In response to the meeting, the National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, stated that Nigeria needs young and energetic leaders capable of driving meaningful change.

“Nigeria has faced many challenges under leaders who may have good intentions but lack the energy to effectively implement their visions,” Okwu noted in a statement issued on Friday.

He emphasized that leaders below the age of 65 are best suited to navigate the country’s current difficulties and lead it toward progress.

“As we move closer to the 2027 general election, young leaders like Governor Bala Mohammed and Mr. Peter Obi are in a strong position to reposition the country,” Okwu said.

He urged them to strengthen their collaboration and work towards a shared vision for Nigeria’s future, adding that the youth are ready to support leaders committed to national prosperity.

Okwu also called on younger politicians to set aside personal ambitions and unite to shape Nigeria’s political future.

“Governor Mohammed, as the leader of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has been vocal on national issues, just like Mr. Peter Obi. Such vibrant leadership is necessary to tackle the country’s current challenges,” he stated.

He encouraged more young political leaders to join forces and work toward a common goal ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting between Mohammed and Obi has sparked discussions on the possibility of a new political alignment that could reshape Nigeria’s governance landscape.
