The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the safe return of 203 Nigerian nationals who were stranded in Libya.
The repatriation was facilitated through a partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) under its Voluntary Humanitarian Return program. Nigerian agencies involved included the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Port Health Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.
Two of the returnees, who required urgent medical care, were immediately transferred to New Ikeja Hospital for treatment.
After biometric registration and profiling, all returnees were moved to the Igando IDP Resettlement Centre in Lagos. There, they will receive support through tailored reintegration programs designed to help them rebuild their lives and reintegrate into their communities.
NEMA reiterated that this operation is part of an ongoing humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians abroad and facilitating their safe and dignified return.
