On Friday, June 6, 2025, Nigerian UK-based pastor and founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, now known as Nxtion Family, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega publicly shared his fight against cancer in a moving sermon that has since trended widely on social media.
In a pre-recorded video message to his congregation, Adegboyega revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer and recently underwent major surgery. Explaining his absence from the pulpit, he said, “I was diagnosed with cancer. Yes, you heard me right. I’ve been dealing with cancer for the past few months or even more. I just had a major surgery, that’s why I am not there today.”
The pastor described his survival and ongoing fight as a sign of God’s purpose for him, saying, “I feel the verdict to continue live was given to me by God for a new level, for a new stage.”
In a generous move to support cancer awareness and treatment, Pastor Tobi donated £100,000 to help young people battling the disease, showing his commitment to the cause beyond his personal experience.
The revelation has sparked an outpouring of support and prayers from Nigerians online. Many expressed empathy and well-wishes for his full recovery. For example, Instagram user @hottie\_chi wrote, “Sorry to hear this and thank God for a successful surgery and recovery. This is what I preach always for everyone to be kind with their words because you don’t know what someone is going through.”
Others praised his courage and faith. User @mijaycecollections commented, “Hallelujah! What God cannot do doesn’t exist.” Another, @preciiousofficial, said, “You never really know what people are battling with behind closed doors. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s story also sheds light on the hidden struggles many face silently, reminding the public to approach others with kindness and understanding.
Earlier, Pastor Tobi was in the news for legal issues related to a fraud investigation and his lost appeal against deportation from the UK, but his recent message and charitable donation have redirected focus on his health and faith journey.
The pastor’s courageous disclosure about his health challenges has inspired many and highlighted the importance of cancer awareness and early treatment in Nigeria and abroad.
