Gunmen Kidnap Anglican Priest in Anambra State

An Anglican priest, Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Anambra State. The priest, who serves as the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James’ Parish in Awkuzu, was abducted on Saturday night, October 26, around 9:00 PM at the entrance of his parish in the Oyi Local Government Area.

As of now, there has been no communication from the kidnappers to the priest’s family, and it is unclear if any ransom demands have been made. In response to the incident, the church has organized prayer sessions, hoping for Ajaefobi’s safe return.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police had not received any reports regarding the kidnapping. An investigation is expected to begin soon.
