Two Runs Girls Survive Harrowing Knife Attack at Work Site in Ghana

Two women narrowly escaped with their lives after a traumatic knife attack while working at a location allegedly run by foreign nationals in Ghana. The incident, which occurred at a site they believed to be a workplace, quickly turned into a nightmare filled with violence and bloodshed.

The women, who were taken to the site under the pretext of work, reported arriving at a location that smelled strongly of blood. Suspicious of their surroundings, one of the victims expressed concern to her sister. However, they were reassured that no harm would come to them.

Upon reaching the room assigned to them, they noticed the strange environment but chose to proceed with the task at hand after negotiating a payment of GH₵200 for their labor. However, disagreements arose when the employer refused to pay their wages after the work was completed. When the women attempted to leave, the man locked the doors, trapping them inside.

A confrontation ensued when the women demanded to be released. The man allegedly retrieved a knife hidden under his pillow and attacked one of the women, slashing her hand. Acting in self-defense, the other woman broke a bottle and tried to fend him off. The assailant, undeterred, continued his assault, stabbing one sister multiple times and injuring the other in the process.

The struggle escalated as the man brought out additional weapons, including scissors, to attack the women. Despite their injuries, the women fought back, using a frying pan to subdue the man and escape.

The injured women managed to flee the premises and sought help from individuals at a nearby club. Good Samaritans at the scene assisted them by contacting authorities, who rushed the victims to a hospital for medical treatment. Both women sustained severe injuries, including deep cuts to their hands and torso.

Police have reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to apprehend the suspect and identify the circumstances surrounding the attack. The victims are currently recovering, but the harrowing ordeal has raised concerns about workplace safety and the exploitation of vulnerable workers.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers faced by workers in unregulated environments. It underscores the need for stringent oversight to ensure the safety and well-being of laborers, particularly in contexts involving foreign employers or isolated work locations in Ghana.
