The Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Columbus Irisoanga, popularly known for his role as ‘Igbudu‘ in the acclaimed movie Isakaba. He passed away in the early hours of February 6, 2025, at 1:00 AM.
Irisoanga’s family confirmed his death through a statement expressing deep sorrow:
“It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we report the passing of Nollywood actor Columbus Irisoanga. The talented actor has left this world to be with his forefathers beyond, as he passed away in the early hours of today at 1 AM.”
Colleagues and fans have paid tribute to Irisoanga’s significant contributions to Nollywood Actress Hilda Dokubo shared her grief on social media, stating, “There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers State Nollywood.”
Beyond his acting career, Irisoanga was a respected educator. He served as a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, imparting his knowledge and passion for the arts to aspiring actors.
His portrayal of ‘Igbudu’ in Isakaba remains one of his most memorable performances, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor.
