Brazilian PresidentLuiz Inácio Lula da Silva has strongly criticized former U.S. President **Donald Trump, arguing that he should focus on governing the United States rather than trying to control world affairs. Lula’s comments came during a radio interview on Thursday with Bahia-based stations Metrópole and Sociedade, as reported by Folha De S.Paulo.
“Trump was elected to govern the United States, not to rule the world,” Lula stated.
His remarks were a direct response to Trump’s controversial proposal to remove Palestinians from Gaza, a plan that has drawn widespread international condemnation.
Lula stressed the importance of democratic and civilised relations among nations and warned against the concentration of power in global communications. He highlighted the risks of a few individuals controlling the flow of information, indirectly criticizing billionaire Elon Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump.
“What cannot happen is for us to think that a businessman can own global communications and speak ill of the world all the time, interfering in countries’ elections,” Lula warned.
While he did not mention Musk by name, his remarks reflected growing concerns over big tech’s influence on democracy and international affairs.
Lula’s criticism comes amid global unease over Trump’s foreign policy direction, particularly regarding international conflicts and diplomatic relations. The Brazilian president’s comments highlight ongoing tensions between national sovereignty and the influence of global powers in an interconnected world.
As Trump’s policies continue to spark debate, Lula’s remarks add to the international call for greater respect for sovereignty, democratic principles, and responsible governance on the global stage.
