On Wednesday, 5 March 2025, Hon. Okey Mbah, Member Representing Nkanu East Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Housing & Foreign Investment, led the Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science, and Technology on an oversight visit to the Owo Smart School in Nkanu East Constituency. The delegation, chaired by Hon. Osita Eze, was accompanied by Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Mbah stated, “I had the privilege of leading the Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science, and Technology, chaired by Hon. Osita Eze, alongside Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, on an oversight visit to the Owo Smart School in Nkanu East Constituency.”
The Owo Smart School, a pioneering pilot project that has now launched its full academic program, showcased a state-of-the-art learning environment equipped with modern teaching tools designed for innovative instruction. Expressing his satisfaction with the progress, Hon. Mbah remarked, “We were truly impressed by the remarkable academic transformation among the students. Their fluent responses to our inquiries and the thoughtful, ‘smart’ questions they posed during classroom inspections clearly demonstrated how innovative teaching methods and tools are enhancing their knowledge.”
During the visit, the lawmakers inspected several high-tech learning facilities. Hon. Mbah highlighted the key areas examined, stating, “We also inspected the fully equipped E-Library, the mechatronic lab, visual augmented reality lab, etc.”
He emphasized the broader vision for the Smart School Project, explaining that, “When fully implemented across the 260 wards of the state, the Smart School Project will promote a culture of innovative learning aligned with the latest global academic standards.”
Hon. Mbah also commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his commitment to educational transformation, declaring, “His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is indeed the missing link in our journey toward a brighter future.”
