Enugu State Governor, Hon. Peter Mbah, has reassured landlords and investors that the proposed Tenant Protection Bill does not intend to regulate rental prices but aims to create a more balanced and fair housing market for residents.
Speaking on the bill, Mbah emphasized that its passage would bring much-needed relief to tenants across the state. He urged lawmakers to support the initiative, highlighting its potential to improve housing conditions and ensure tenant rights are protected.
During deliberations, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, referred the bill to the Committees on Housing and Foreign Investment, as well as the Judiciary, Ethics, and Public Petition Committees. The bill will undergo further review before being presented for a public hearing, allowing stakeholders to contribute their perspectives before final consideration.
