The Kwara State police command has arrested a syndicate involved in dismantling stolen cars from Lagos and selling them in Kwara State.
Police spokesperson DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi stated that detectives were alerted to suspicious activities at a dump site near the Madi area along the Okolowo/Jebba expressway in Ilorin. Upon arrival, officers found suspects dismantling a Nissan Almera with Lagos registration number AKD919AU.
Three suspects, Abdulateef Abdulwahab, Wasiu Musa, and Tajudeen Abdulrasak, were arrested at the scene. During interrogation, they revealed information leading to the capture of additional accomplices: Usman Oseni, Abdulrasheed Jimoh, Abdulrasak Jamiu Ayinde, and Lukman Ibrahim, all residents of Ilorin.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the car had been snatched at gunpoint in Lagos and transported to Ilorin for dismantling and resale. Two other suspects, Olarewaju Sukirulahi and a man known as “Old Soldier,” remain at large, with efforts ongoing to apprehend them.
