No Entry to ‘The Peoples House’ Without Internal Clearance From The CSO.
The new government in Imo has shown signs of a new way of things as there has been an order from above on strict restriction on people being allowed into “The Peoples House “ which is the re-baptized name of the Imo government house and seat of power formerly known as Douglas House by the govt of Rochas Okorocha .
This new directives came following the uneasiness that accompanied the national protest of the PDP which the Imo State chapter of the party rounded up theirs at the whetherell road round about , amidst fierce looking mobile policemen who were set up at the junction to prevent any unruly behaviour from the protesters at the pivotal center of Owerri, which is is few meters away from the entrance of the government house.
The protest was peaceful and the protesters dispersed before 5 in the evening but visitors to the Government house were still told to park and call someone inside for the security at the main gate to be given clearance for them to be allowed to drive into the compound of the Imo government house.
Familiar faces in the State be it former politician or a heavy weight statesman did not escaped the new directive regardless of how popular your name is, they had to park and call their contact in the new government, for signal to be sent to the main gate and their name endorsed for clearance, the disturbing protocol continued on Monday the 20th of January, this has signaled to the Imo people especially the ordinary citizens who usually goes to the government house to verify information on issues that they are not in the clear with, or to drop letters and proposals ,sometimes even to meet their kinsmen who work in the government during break ,that there is a new sheriff in town and the rules have changed.
No Government in Imo before now has employed this sort of strict policy, though some believe that the ploy is to keep away sycophants and political jobbers who has started crowding the government house since the new government was announced to simulate solidarity and ‘show face’ to see if any appointment will come their way since the new government is beginning on a new slate, regardless of the little or no support that they gave APC during the presidential and gubernatorial elections of 2019.
With new hundreds of appointments to be made in the new government , Governor Hope Uzodinma must have his hands full with unannounced visitors, propping in from every corner to show their face , as a reminder to him of their past assistance and sacrifice to the party during the election, while others will be there to convince him on their resourcefulness and capabilities to deliver in solidifying the new governor’s position with the present scenario of things in the state ,
The new governor and his team should open their arms and welcome both the sycophants , his loyalists and fans to avoid being perceived as the governor who is not in love with his people as he kicks of his time as the sixth Governor of Imo State.
