The former president of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and multiple Ghana Music Awards Winner popularly known as Obour, born Bice Osei Kuffuor lost his Dad at the Ridge Hospital in Accra Ghana on Friday the 27th of March 2020, but the fallout from the tragic incident over misconceptions and accusations of alleged covert conducts of Obour in the heat of the moment is yet to die down.
Obour released a press statement on the subject to clear the air which he started by calling out JoyFm and Multimedia group on their oversight of the critical points of the scenario before going on air with spurious allegations against his person misinforming the public that he gave wrong information to the health workers of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital which wasn’t so.
In Obour’s statement, he explained the father came into the country weeks before and was being treated for malaria before suspicions of the corona virus set in and he never concealed his father’s travel history from the relevant authorities and duly informed the emergency team that responded with an ambulance to take his father to hospital when his health condition got worse.
The almost settling dust was raised again in a twitter post from the handle of one of Ghana’s most decorated rappers who made his contribution to the subject affirming that Ridge Hospital deserves a lawsuit from Obour.
“Just had a conversation with Obour …. not taking sides or saying what he’s saying is 100 . but if what he’s saying is the truth, the hospital must b sued… I want to know if his Dad’s test report is out confirming cause of death …Cos for such information to be out there with no final test result ( if that’s true ) that’s totally wrong,” — Sarkodie (@sarkodie) April 8, 2020 ,Sarkodie twitted.
According to a letter dated March 30 2020, the family of Obour has demanded for an autopsy report from the Ridge hospital to confirm if the actual cause of their dad’s death was the covid-19 as publicised adding that they will contract a private service to do it if the hospital fails.
The founder of Global African SHEROES Union Kim Poole on behalf of GASU has also extended their condolence and drummed their support for Obour from their United States office on the issue.
“We the GASU urge Ghanaians to show compassion and empathize with Obour over this irreplaceable loss, as we all continue to be victimized by the Corona virus. Let us not turn on each other, I have traveled and worked in over 18 African countries in my work with the Teaching Artist Institute and Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour has led our work in Ghana since 2016. He is completely SELFLESS and has served the community without fail since we first met. He is the ONLY African artist I know that has the option to live and work in the UK or America and STILL choose to live and work in Ghana Anyway, because he has faith in Ghana, and loves Ghana and African People.” She tweeted
The end to this issue seems not close at all , as Obour is determined to ensure that the final truth to the entire subject is clarified from every point, as he won’t allow anyone taint the memory of his father or stain his legacy of always trying to do what is right to the best of his abilities as he was raised by his favourite man, his Dad.
