Renowned Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has stirred anticipation by asserting that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is slated to pronounce its verdict on September 16 regarding the contentious petitions challenging President Bola Tinubu’s triumph.

While  we cannot assertively validate the specified date, the Tribunal remains legally entitled, in accordance with the Constitution, to pronounce its judgement by September 16, 2023. This timeline is stipulated as the maximum of 180 days following the filing of the petitions.

The petitions, spearheaded by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential nominee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his counterpart from the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, urge the Tribunal to annul Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election, substantiating their stance with an array of allegations.

In a communication disseminated through his official X handle, Charly Boy rallied the supporters of Peter Obi, affectionately termed “Obidients,” to brace themselves for the impending judgement.

Charly Boy’s post articulated, “OBIDIENTS ARE U Ready? Tribunal (PEPT) has announced that the judgment date for the cases involving Peter Obi and the Labour Party against Bola Tinubu, INEC, Shettima, and APC, as well as the PDP’s case of Atiku against APC, INEC, and Tinubu, is scheduled for September 16, 2023.”

The statement triggers heightened anticipation and speculation within the political and legal spheres as the nation awaits the outcome of these significant petitions. With the spotlight on the Tribunal, the forthcoming judgement carries substantial implications for the nation’s political landscape.

As the suspense builds, the Nigerian populace remains keenly attuned to any developments surrounding the Tribunal’s proceedings. The petitions’ grounds encompass an array of assertions and claims, underscoring the critical nature of the impending verdict. The outcome has the potential to shape the trajectory of Nigerian politics and governance.

With Charly Boy’s announcement amplifying awareness about the probable judgement date, the nation’s attention is squarely fixed on the legal proceedings and their implications. As September 16 approaches, political observers, citizens, and stakeholders await the outcome with bated breath.
