The Federal Government has announced plans to inaugurate the next phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway from Cross River to Akwa Ibom in August. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made the announcement at a stakeholders engagement meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway is a major infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation and economic development in the region. The project is part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the next phase is expected to span 107km, with 27km in Akwa Ibom and 80km in Cross River State.
The Minister praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to the project, saying “Tinubu is a man who matches his words with actions.” The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, also expressed his appreciation to the President for listening to his plea to start the next phase of the project.
The inauguration of the next phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway is expected to take place in August, and it is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region.
