Police Arrest Five Suspects in Connection to Kidnapping and Murder in Abuja

In a significant breakthrough, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja Police Command has apprehended five individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and killing in the nation’s capital city. The suspects were arrested in the Gwagwa and Dei-Dei areas of the FCT in connection to a kidnapping incident on June 12, 2024, in which the kidnappers extorted ₦12 million from the victim’s family and caused the death of two other individuals.

According to the police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the suspects were arrested in a two-day operation between June 30 and July 3, 2024, following credible intelligence. The suspects, identified as Umar Abdullahi (aka Auta 20), Likita Abubakar (29), Salisu Sani (24), Sabiu Mohammed, and Aliyu Suleiman (24), have confessed to the crime.

 

The police recovered four AK-47 rifles, a Dane gun, two magazines, and eight unexpended live ammunition from the suspects. The commissioner of police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the security and safety of residents. He urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.

This arrest is a significant achievement in the fight against kidnapping and criminality in the FCT. The police have demonstrated their dedication to ensuring that criminals are brought to justice, and the community is safe.
