The death toll in Lebanon has climbed to 492, with over 1,600 people wounded following Israeli airstrikes. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported the casualties as Israeli attacks targeted Hezbollah positions, intensifying fears of a full-scale conflict between the two countries.
In a recent escalation, Israel launched over 650 strikes on Hezbollah-affiliated targets in Lebanon within 24 hours, including areas in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. Israeli authorities have warned civilians to evacuate before launching large-scale bombing campaigns.
Hezbollah has declared a “battle of reckoning” against Israel, further heightening concerns of a broader war. The United Nations has expressed deep concern for the safety of civilians, while urging both sides to seek a diplomatic resolution.
Meanwhile, the conflict in Gaza has also continued, with 24 Palestinians killed and 60 injured in Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry. The total number of fatalities in Gaza since the beginning of the conflict stands at over 41,000.
The United States has called for de-escalation, with President Joe Biden engaging in discussions with the United Arab Emirates’ president on how to manage tensions. Diplomatic efforts continue, although the situation remains volatile as international actors seek to prevent further escalation.
