Residents and business owners around Nkwo Ngwa market in Aba, Abia State, have expressed their frustration with Governor Alex Otti due to severely flooded and dilapidated roads. In a video, locals lamented the difficult conditions, stating they have been forced to construct bamboo canoes to navigate the flooded streets.
The video highlights the state of Obohia Road, which has become nearly impassable due to flooding, impacting both daily life and business activities. One resident, speaking in Igbo, said, “People are making bamboo canoes to be used in Aba, but if you go to social media, they will say they have constructed all the roads in Aba.”
The community accused Governor Otti’s administration of focusing on social media campaigns that exaggerate progress while neglecting the urgent needs of residents. “This is Nkwo Ngwa, Aba, a business area that generates money in Abia State. People are suffering,” the resident continued, emphasizing the dire situation.
The frustration was clear as residents criticized the government for only patching roads that were built by previous administrations. “Please, governor, come and help us. Leave social media,” another resident pleaded, calling for real action instead of online claims of improvements.
The residents of Aba are calling for immediate government intervention to address the flooding and improve the condition of their roads, urging the governor to take their struggles seriously and act accordingly.
