Nnamdi Kanu Arrives Abuja Court as Justice Nyako Resumes Trial

Abuja, Nigeria – February 10, 2025 – The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the resumption of his trial on terrorism charges.

Kanu’s trial had been stalled since September 24, 2024, when Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court recused herself from the case. She made this decision after Kanu requested her removal, citing a lack of confidence in her ability to handle the trial fairly.

Following her recusal, Chief Judge John Tsoho was tasked with reassigning the case. However, reports indicate that Tsoho returned the case to Justice Nyako, allowing her to continue with the proceedings.

Kanu’s brother, Kanunta Kanu, confirmed his arrival at the court by posting a video on X (formerly Twitter). In his post, he wrote: “10th of February 2025 #MaziNnamdiKanu live at dishonorable Justice Binta Nyako’s court in Abuja, Nigeria.”

The trial has drawn significant public attention, with supporters of Kanu closely following developments. Kanu is facing terrorism-related charges brought against him by the Nigerian federal government.

As the proceedings resume, all eyes remain on the court to determine the next phase of the trial and its implications for Kanu and IPOB.
