The Lagos State Government has sealed Westbrook Mall in Lekki and arrested 24 individuals for violating a state order, according to Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Lagos authorities carried out the enforcement operation after discovering that the mall had repeatedly ignored government directives.
In a statement on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Wahab revealed that Westbrook Mall had previously defied government regulations twice.
Sequel to the contravention by the Management of Westbrook Mall, and having broken the State government Seal order on two separate occasions, a joint LSWMO and KAI Enforcement exercise was carried out on the facility this morning, Thursday, April 3, 2025, Wahab stated.
Located in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, the mall had been sealed before for similar violations but continued operations against government directives.
As part of the enforcement, Wahab confirmed that:
– 24 individuals were arrested and will face prosecution.
– The property was resealed to prevent further unauthorized activities.
– The mall’s management must pay fines as required by Lagos State laws.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing environmental and regulatory standards, warning businesses against non-compliance.
Lagos authorities urged all business operators to adhere strictly to government regulations to avoid similar actions.
