The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has made a strong appeal to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put personal ambitions aside and work towards re-electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Politics Today, a political programme aired on Channels Television, Keyamo emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, insisting that President Tinubu’s second term is critical to completing the reforms he has already started.
“Every single APC member in Nigeria today should be concentrating on the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, irrespective of whether it affects your personal interest or not,” Keyamo said. “He does need a second term to fully finish up all these reforms.”
He warned that any interruption to these reforms by a different administration in 2027 could reverse progress and bring back disjointed policies that have slowed the country’s development in the past.
Commenting on recent political developments, Keyamo referenced the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori—his home state’s governor—from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. He described the move as a big win for the ruling party and voluntarily handed over state party leadership to the governor in a bid to strengthen unity.
“Whether I have to make sacrifices like yesterday where we surrendered party leadership in Delta, it is all irrelevant so long as we are strengthening APC for the re-election of Mr President,” he said. “I don’t care whether it affects me or I lose out politically. Mr President must be elected.”
He also noted that Delta had long been a financial stronghold of the PDP, and the governor’s switch to APC marked a significant shift in political tides ahead of 2027.
