Enugu East Senatorial Zone in Enugu State was agog as the First Lady of the State, Her Excellency Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah was hosted by the Wives of the 6 local Government Chairmen in the Zone during her familiarisation tour on Saturday the 6th of June 2025.
On ground to receive her excellency includes the Federal House Member representing Nkanu East and West at the red chamber, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, Hon. Okey Mbah, Member representing Nkanu East at the Enugu State House of Assembly,Dame Rita Mbah PDP BOT Member Enugu State, Enugu State Commissioner for Science and Technology Engr. Lawrence Ezeh, among other stakeholders of the Senatorial zone.
The Chairmen of the six Local Government areas under the Enugu East Senatorial zone in the persons of Hon. (Engr.) Pastor Beloved‑Dan Anike (Enugu East LGA ) Dr Ibenaku Onoh (Enugu North) Hon. Joel Onyemaechi (Enugu South) Hon. Obiora Obeagu (Isi‑Uzo LGA) Hon. Sydney Edeh ( Nkanu East) and Hon. John Ogbodo (Nkanu West) were all present.
He went ahead to list the roads spanning from Amankanu, Ubahu, Owo, Amechi- Idodo, Oruku, Amagunze, Akpawfu, Ihuokpara, Ugbawka, Nara, Mburubu, Nomeh, and Nkerefi roads. According to him, this is aside from Smart Green School, type 2 PHC, and farm settlements projects under construction in all the wards of the Constituency. He assured the governor of the resolve of his constituents to replicate the massive support they gave him during the 2023 governorship election and maintained that his constituents will double the support towards his reelection in 2027.
He also congratulated her Excellency and the governor for the various awards they won, showing his outstanding leadership qualities and performance in governance. He described the governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as God’s gift to Enugu State as symbolised by the name of his wife , Nkechinyere Mbah.
“Your Excellency Ma” your name symbolises your husband as God’s gift to Enugu State, ” Nke Chi Nyere” Ndi Enugu.
“His Excellency have confirmed through his leadership attributes that wise men come from the East. He has done us proud by raising the bars high. We’re super proud of his performance in just two years of mounting the saddle of leadership.”

The lawmaker also praised the efforts of the six local government chairmen in towing the good example of the governor and ensuring massive construction of projects in their respective local government areas in the senatorial zone, especially the chairman of Nkanu East, Hon Sydney Okey Edeh, who also doubles as the ALGON Chairman, Enugu State.
The event experienced a massive turnout of various women organisations and PDP Women leaders from across the wards that made up the zone.
